Blinds and shades

Blind and shade cleaning, in place or taken down

Roman, sheer and solar shades cleaned on-site or off-site, with discounts for regular service.

Chapter 01

What collects on blinds and shades

Blinds work all day and nobody wipes them. Dust settles on every slat and into every fold of fabric, and a window onto a busy Brooklyn street adds a layer of grit from outside on top of the dust from within.

Smoke leaves a film that turns pale shades yellow. Kitchen grease drifts across a room and sticks to whatever hangs near the stove, which is why the shade by the cooker is always the first to look tired. Roman, sheer and solar shades each collect it differently, and the index below shows how.

On-site or off-site

Shades can be cleaned in place, with the work done at the window, or taken down and cleaned off-site where there is room to work flat. We decide with you which suits the shade, the size of the window and the fabric, and we do both across Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx, Long Island and Westchester.

Cleaning starts at $150 and varies by size and material, so a pair of small sheers and a wall of tall Roman shades are priced differently. Regular blind service is discounted, which makes a schedule cheaper than a rescue every few years. Estimates are free at (888) 919-2393.

Chapter 03

Keeping shades clean

Dust them monthly with a soft duster or a vacuum on its lowest setting. Dust that never builds up never turns into the film that needs a proper clean, and the habit takes less time than the cup of tea you make beside it.

In humid rooms, keep shades raised when you are out so air can move through the fabric. A shade left lowered in a damp bathroom or a steamy kitchen holds moisture, and moisture is where spotting starts. If a mark does appear, ring before you scrub it, because rubbing a fabric shade can drive the mark deeper.

Pick your shade type from the index, then pair it with the rest of the room: our sofa and upholstery cleaning and carpet cleaning pages cover what sits under the window. The contact page takes the details, or ring (888) 919-2393.
