Mattresses

Mattress cleaning for mites, sweat and spills

Vacuumed, stain-treated and cleaned with low moisture, so the bed is fresh and the core stays dry.

Chapter 01

What lives in a mattress

A mattress takes eight hours of you every night: sweat, skin, the odd spilled coffee and dander from the pet that is not supposed to be on the bed. Dust mites feed on all of it, and a mattress in a warm bedroom is the address they would pick. None of it shows, which is why a mattress can look fine long after it has stopped being fine.

Brooklyn bedrooms are small, a platform bed often sits a few feet from a radiator, and children and cats share the space. We clean mattresses across Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx, Long Island and Westchester, and one visit can include the sofa in the next room.

A low-moisture clean, start to finish

We vacuum first, because loose soil turns to mud the moment it meets liquid. Stains are treated one at a time, since coffee, urine and blood each need a different approach, and the wrong one sets the mark instead of lifting it.

Then comes a low-moisture clean. A mattress is thick foam and springs and it dries slowly, so the aim is to clean the top layers without driving water into the core, where it can stay damp and turn sour. The inspection before we leave is part of the job, and the zero-damage policy covers the mattress like everything else.

Chapter 03

Keeping it clean afterwards

A washable mattress protector is the cheapest repair there is. It takes the sweat and the spills so the mattress never has to. Rotate the mattress head to foot every few months so no single dip carries the weight, and air the room on a dry morning with the bedding pulled back.

Bought a new bed? We published a short piece on the top 3 care and maintenance tips for new mattresses on our blog, and it is the best place to start. Free maintenance tips come with every visit, and a spill is easier to fix the day it happens than the month after.

What should be ready before we arrive?

Four small jobs make the visit faster. Questions on the night before? Ring (888) 919-2393, or send the details through the contact page.

  1. Strip the bed

Sheets, protector and pillows off and into the wash, so the mattress is bare when we start.

  2. Point out the stains

Coffee, a pet accident, a child’s night. Knowing what it was tells us how to treat it.

  3. Say how old it is

A new mattress and a ten-year-old one are not cleaned the same way.

  4. Open a window

Fresh air in the room helps a mattress finish drying after the clean.

The mattress is rarely the only soft thing in the room. Our sofa and upholstery cleaning and disinfecting pages cover the chair by the window and the nursery before a newborn comes home.
